SEO is an upcoming field and provides you excellent job opportunities. Before applying for a job you must understand some technical questions will be asked during your interview. You have to prepare yourself and here are some general SEO interview questions-:
Ques 1) What do you mean by SEO. What are it’s types?
Answer) SEO stand for search engine optimization. It is a process of optimizing a website in order to get ranked organically in various SERP’s such as Yahoo, Goole, Bing, MSN etc..
Two types of SEO are-
- On page optimization.
- Off page optimization.
Ques 2) What SEO tools you use?
Answer) There are many SEO tools that i use. Some of the most common tools are google analytics, Webmaster tool, Alexa, ad word keyword planner and many more.
Ques 3) What is a crawler or spider?
Answer) Spider also called as bot, crawler or robot is a set of computer program that browses World Wide Web in methodical and orderly fashion as well automatically scan the web-page and website for updated content Spider also called as bot.

Ques 4) Difference between a backlink and outbound link?
Answer)
Back Links– The incoming links to your website or webpage is referred as Backlink.
Outbound Links-The outbound links are our website links to other webpage or website.
Ques 5) What do you know about LSI?
Answer) LSI stands for Latent Semantic Indexing. This technique is established to obtain the data by relating the word to its closest counterparts or to its similar context. For example if the title of your page was “Classic Bike”, the search engine would expect to find words relating to that subject in the content of the page as well, i.e. “collectors”, “automobile”, “Harley Davidson”, “Royal Enfeild” and “Bike auction”.
Ques 6) What is 301 redirect?
Answer) It is a technique by which the traffic is redirected to a new page URL from a old page URL . It is a permanent redirect and it is also useful in transferring link juice to new URL from old URL.
Ques 7) How many types of Meta Tags are there in SEO and what are their characters limits?
Answer) There are three types of meta tags available-
Title Tag– 60-70 char.
Description Tag– 150-160 char.
Keyword Tag– 160-200 char.
Ques 8) What do you know about ‘dofollow’ and ‘nofollow’ Links?
Answer)
Dofollow– These are the links or pages which we want to be crawled or indexed by the search engine bots in search engines.
Ques 9) What is robots.txt?
Answer) A robots.txt file is a file at the root of your site that indicates those parts of your site you don’t want accessed by search engine crawlers.
Ques 10) What is Black hat SEO. Tell us some major Black Hat techniques?
Answer) Using illegal or unethical ways/methods of getting your website rank higher in the SERP’s. These methods are not accepted by the search engines as the dis-obeys the search engine guidelines.
Some major Black Hat SEO techniques are-
- Link Farming.
- Hidden text etc.
- Cloaking.
- Keyword Stuffing.
- Different pages for users and crawlers.
